Having absolutely no knowledge of good wines is not a bad thing as there is always someone to hand at the store who does, the guys that work at these types of stores can usually give you a few hits on the types of wine to purchase. There is a lot of details available about wine, just check out your local library and spend a little time reading about the types of wine you should drink with different types of food.

There is no better way to find a wine you like than going to a wine tasting event, you can attempt all the wines then purchase the one you have actually tasted instead of taking advice from someone who might have different tastes to you. Going to these event will do two things. 1. Give you the opportunity to attempt different wines and 2. you can normally buy the wine at a discounted price. You can increase your knowledge about the different wines available by going to these types of events.

Your local wine store owner would be happy to give a some advice if you don’t have time to do any research and just want to buy a good wine. You may even find your local store has a service that will chose a wine for you after asking you some simple questions. You will find yourself inside a cellar that’s full of wine laid horizontally on compartments that prevents that wine from being exposed to heat and light.

Watch out for bad advertisements

Try to stay away from commercialized wines as they tend to be of a poorer quality and taste. Do not settle for wines bragging about their labels because these can turn out to be just gimmicks. Your local wine store won’t stock the mass market wine found in super markets so are normally of a better quality.

Be aware of the importer

It is required by law that any imported wine has a import label on the back of the bottle, this ensures you are getting approved wine growers wine.

Be an avid wine drinker
